Touch New Zealand have released their new Junior Touch Policy.
You can read the policy in full below.
As a province, Counties Manukau Touch Association are committed to providing opportunities for our tamariki to play the game they love.
Our Representative panel is meeting next week (Thursday 18 June) to discuss our 20/21 season. How we (CMTA) support the growth and development of our junior players will be discussed.
We will also consider what implementing this policy means for our Coaches, referees and volunteer support teams development.
It is clear that Touch New Zealand, in line with Sport New Zealand’s recommendations, are indicating a preference for participation over representation. With that position in mind, CMTA will need to consider what the future could look like.
This process will include working with Junior Modules in our area, schools and community organisations (via our Development Officer), discussing the future of Tri-Series with our Whanau at Auckland, North Harbour and Te Tai Tokerau as well as continuing the discussions being held at the moment regarding an amended version of the IPS tournament.
Your whakaaro is important, and you will get a chance to share it with us as we continue the work being done at the moment shaping our approach moving forward.
As soon as we have more information, we will update you.
In the meantime, please take some time to read the policy. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to get in touch.
