the Under 19 age criteria is Under 19 years of age at the 31st December 2010.
the Under 21 age criteria is Under 21 years of age at December 31st 2010.

With the selection of Youth TransTasman Teams and Touch Black Teams the following policy on cross-selection for players has been set:

I. Youth U19 or U 21 Selections are age grade specific, ie if a players age deems them eligible to play in the Under 19 or 21 grade they will only be considered for selection in this grade.

II. Players who are eligible for Youth TransTasman selection that are playing in an Open Grade team will be automatically considered for the teams in which they are age eligible ( as per above) and specific to the grade they are playing

Example: If a player is in an open women’s team and they are age eligible for under 21 women’s grade then they do not have to complete a cross-selection application. Consideration for age / gender grade is specific. Only indicate on the team registration that they are available for NZ team selection.

III. A player can apply for cross-selection if:

(a). Their province does not have a team in the grade they wish to be considered for selection in:

Example 1: If a player is playing Under 21 women’s grade and the province does not have a mixed team and the player wishes to be considered for Mixed team selection then a cross-selection form is required to be completed and submitted.

Example 2: If a player is playing in Under 21 mixed grade and the province does not have any other youth grade teams and they wish to be selected for Under 19 boys selection then a cross-selection form is required to be completed and submitted.

Cross-Selection applications must be received by Touch NZ prior the commencement of the Managers meeting on the 28th February 2010..
